ABOUT MONTESSORI

Developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, the first female graduate of the University of Rome Medical School, our education philosophy focuses on the whole child. Our goal is to help children reach their full potential in all areas of life by allowing them the freedom to pursue their interests under the guidance of a specially trained Montessori teacher.
The Montessori approach begins with a specifically designed environment with materials and objects to help children learn through exploration. This self-directed learning invites children to develop their unique talents and abilities through their personal learning style while building confidence and independence.
Key to our philosophy is the interaction among children of different ages in the same classroom, promoting healthy socialization and mentoring. In addition to independent projects, students engage in small and large group activities that broaden their horizons and teach creative and practical skills.
In all of our educational centers — daycare, preschool, kindergarten, elementary school — the teacher plays a critical role as guide, mentor, and facilitator, monitoring progress and encouraging children to add new experiences and projects as appropriate.

THE HISTORY OF MONTESSORI

The very first “Montessori Educational Center” Omaha preschool opened in 1968 under the guidance of Dr. LaVonne Kopecky Plambeck.

When she retired last year, Julie and Dr. Beau Roy purchased the schools. As owners of six Montessori schools in Canada and with more than 22 years of experience, they bring a visionary history and approach to raise Omaha’s Montessori schools to the next level of excellence. “We’re so excited to work with our families and grow our schools to achieve the highest level of Montessori preschool education in Omaha,” says Roy. “I see great things for our children and families in Montessori now and in the future. We have four children of our own, and our passion and love for Montessori and early childhood education are why we started these schools. We wanted a superb learning experience for our children. We wanted to take them somewhere where we felt great about leaving them, knowing they would be immersed in the wonderment of education and positive early learning experiences.
