PRESCHOOL PROGRAM | 2.5 YEARS TO 6 YEARS | SCHOOL DAY: 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. / FULL TIME: 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

Montessori is based on the principle of free choice and purposeful activity or “Freedom within limits”.The classroom is set up with five main areas of interest: Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Cultural and children are allowed to freely choose activities within the classroom. All of the activities have built in control of error parameters so that the child can understand why the material may not be working. All of the activities focus on: Order, Concentration, Co-operation and Independence. We also work with our parents to potty train their child at this level!

INQUIRY BASED LEARNING APPROACH

Our unique Montessori Preschool program focuses on critical thinking, problem-solving, self-confidence and a strong foundation in mathematics, reading and the sciences in a non-stressful environment. Montessori Preschool students demonstrate great joy and passion in their learning. They are critical thinkers that are able to think and communicate efficiently and effectively!

PREPARING YOUR CHILD FOR THE STEAM WORLD

We can all agree the world is becoming more technologically advanced every year. It’s why STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) are critical to the future success of your child.

The Montessori system was developed by a scientist. It was designed from the ground up to teach kids STEAM ideas, thinking, and theories. Everything we do here – from life skills to play to academics is designed to inspire a child’s natural gifts.

Whatever leadership role your child takes in the future, a solid foundation in technology, science, the arts and math will give them an immense competitive advantage in life. Montessori also teaches and encourages soft skills, which are a skill most desired by employers. Our grace and courtesy curriculum cannot be beat.

ENCOURAGING INDEPENDENCE

All of the activities in our preschool program focus on OCCI: Order, Concentration, Coordination and Independence. There are five main areas in the preschool classroom: Practical life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Cultural. Beyond academics, there are also so many opportunities for social and emotional growth through all of the specials offered (yoga, dance, music and Spanish) and all of the small and large group activities.

WHAT PARENTS ARE ASKING

We do extensive Criminal Reference checks and Background checks on all of our team members.

Our program is 5 days per week, Monday – Friday. Recognizing the community’s need for extended hours, we are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our Preschool program runs as follows:

Infant: 6 weeks-18 months

Toddler: 18 months-3 years

Primary: 3 years – Kindergarten (Child must be potty trained)

School Day: 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Full Time: 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

This is a fair question, and it deserves careful consideration. The following article, Why Montessori for the Kindergarten Year, written by Tim Seldin with Dr. Elizabeth Coe offers an excellent answer.

When the time comes to move into a more traditional school environment, Montessori children usually adapt very well. Our programs are designed to help children develop positive self-images and confidence so they can face challenges and change with optimism. The Montessori environment helps build self-esteem, which research has shown to be a key predictor for future success.

WHAT PARENTS HAVE TO SAY

Both of my children have had the good fortune of being in Miss Jackie's classroom at Child's World, and our family has benefited immeasurably from the clear, consistent, caring guidance that Miss Jackie and her staff provide --- not only to the children, but to us parents as well! Without their Montessori-informed guidance, we would never have known how much our young children are capable of doing. I am deeply grateful to the staff at Child's World for sharing their love, respect, and knowledge with our family. Thank you!

As parents who both work full-time, the time with our twins is limited on weekdays. We truly believe that their involvement in Montessori, with the instruction of Lead Teacher Miss Lindsay (Toddler Classroom), has made our time together that much better. They are able to better communicate and enjoy their experiences – whether that is “finding work” at home, meals, and other activities. Miss Lindsay has created an environment in her classroom where our children feel safe and enjoy learning. We couldn’t ask for more.
